Our workshop is at Plot No 4A in the Ec Complex, which is part of Kushaiguda. If you’ve ever been around this part of Keesara in the Rangareddy district, you know it’s an industrial area with a lot of noise. We are right in the thick of it. Most of our day is spent working with metal, so there’s always the smell of burning iron and the bright flashes from the welding machines. It gets quite hot in the shed, especially during the summer months when the sun beats down on the roof. We do all sorts of fabrication work, from simple gates to bigger frames that people need for their houses or shops. Our hands are usually covered in grease or soot by the end of the shift, but that’s just the nature of the work. The EC Complex is a busy place with trucks moving in and out all the time. We’ve been at this plot for a good while now and we know most of the other guys working in the nearby units. We don’t have a fancy showroom to display things. Usually, whatever we make gets picked up as soon as it’s finished because there isn't much room to store big items here. It’s a practical job and we just focus on getting the measurements right and making sure the joints are strong. That's how we spend our weeks, just cutting and joining metal.
