Monda Market is a hectic place to be, and our shop at 7/1/623 is right in the middle of it. We start very early in the morning, long before the sun is even up. That is when the big pots of milk start boiling. The smell of ghee and sugar is everywhere. We don't have a lot of space, so we have to be organized with our trays of sweets. There is always a lot of shouting and noise outside from the market vendors. Inside, we are busy frying snacks or shaping the laddoos by hand. Our counters are made of old glass and they get sticky pretty fast despite us wiping them down all day. People stop by on their way to work to grab a quick snack or some sweets for their families. We don't use fancy packaging or have a website. We just put the stuff in a box and tie it with a bit of string. It’s a family-run kind of vibe. We know most of the people who walk past our door. Sometimes the heat from the kitchen makes the whole shop feel like an oven. But that is just how making mithai works. We focus on getting the taste right every single day.
