Our office at 4-2-19 on R P Road has been the center of everything we do for quite a long time now. It is not a very large space, but it fits the desks and the stacks of papers we need to keep track of things. Usually, the day starts with opening the heavy shutters and letting some air in, though R P Road is always noisy with traffic and people heading to work. We have a small table near the entrance where most of the talking happens. It is a bit dusty because of the construction nearby, but we try to keep it tidy enough for when folks stop by to ask about their orders. The walls are painted a pale cream color that has faded over the years, and there are calendars from three different years hanging near the back corner. We do not have a fancy waiting area or anything like that. People just pull up a plastic chair if they need to sit. Most of the time, it is just the sound of the ceiling fan clicking and the ledger books being moved around. We keep our records mostly by hand because it feels more reliable that way, even if it takes a bit longer to find a specific entry from last year. Lunch is usually a quick affair at the desk. By the time evening comes, the street outside gets even more crowded, and we start packing up the day's notes to get ready for tomorrow.
