The building is called Sai Shavani Nilaya over in Biramguda, and we are up in room 406. It’s a quiet enough area compared to the main road, which is nice when you’re trying to get things done. We have a few rooms set up with basic furniture, nothing too elaborate. Most mornings start with unlocking the gate and making sure everything is wiped down. There’s a lot of sunlight that hits the front balcony in the early hours. We usually have people coming in and out throughout the day, so the door is always opening and closing. You can hear the neighborhood sounds, like dogs barking or someone selling vegetables on the street below. We spend a good chunk of time just organizing schedules and talking to people who walk in. It’s not a big corporate place, just a few of us trying to keep the wheels turning. The walls are painted a simple off-white, and we have a couple of clocks that never seem to show the exact same time. We keep a big water jar in the corner because it gets quite warm in the afternoons. Sometimes we stay late to finish up paperwork, and you can see the lights of the city starting to pop up from the window. It’s a pretty basic setup, but it’s where we spend most of our lives. We just keep things moving and handle whatever comes through the door. It is what it is.
