Singh & Nail Machine

You can find our workshop in Hanuman Nagar, over in the Nai Basti area. We are right near the big water tank, which is the easiest way to tell people how to get here. We spend our days making nails and doing some basic metal work. The machines we have are quite old and they make a lot of noise when they are running. We usually start them up early in the morning. The air in the shop is always a bit metallic smelling and there is dust everywhere, but that’s just the nature of the work. We have a small crew of four people. Most of us live right here in the neighborhood. We don't have a front office or a receptionist. If you want to talk to us, you just walk into the workshop and shout over the noise of the machines. We keep our finished nails in heavy burlap bags stacked against the wall. Sometimes a machine breaks down and the whole day is spent getting it back in order. It’s frustrating but it happens. We aren't a big factory, just a local spot that provides for the builders and shops around this part of town. We don't have any big goals other than keeping the machines going and making sure we have enough work for the next week. It’s a simple, honest way to get by.
