Down here in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, things move at a different pace than in the big cities. We are situated in Mouhari Katra, which is part of the Thana-Apatan area. Gannon Dunkerley & Co. Ltd. has this spot set up to take care of the local work we have going on in this part of the state. It’s a rural setting, so you see a lot of open space and trees around the office. Getting here involves a bit of a drive, but it’s a familiar route for everyone who works here. We don't have a shiny sign or a lobby full of plants. It’s a functional building where we keep our tools and our records. The walls are a bit plain, and the furniture has seen better days, but it serves the purpose. People from the village often walk past, and we know most of the neighbors by name. It’s the kind of place where you have to keep an eye on the power cuts, but we make it work. We spend our hours coordinating with different sites and making sure the supplies are where they need to be. It’s honest work in a quiet corner of the country. We don't see the need for a lot of flash. As long as the job gets finished, that’s what matters to us. It’s just a group of us trying to keep things moving.
