Sivam Bricks

Our place is at 513/20 in Puliyampatti, right near the Ganthi Polytechnic College. You can usually see the students walking around near the V R T Shop while we are out here working in the sun. It’s a busy little corner of the town, honestly. We make bricks the old-fashioned way, mostly. There’s a lot of water and mud involved in the process, so the yard is rarely ever dry or clean. We spend our days molding the clay and laying it out to catch the sun so it dries before we put them in the kiln. It’s hard on the back, but we have been doing it for years now, so we don't think about it much anymore. Puliyampatti is a good place to be, and being near the college means there is always some life around the area. We aren't some big corporate company with fancy trucks and expensive equipment. We just have a small setup where we focus on getting the work done. Sometimes the weather doesn't play nice and we have to cover everything up quickly when the clouds roll in, but that is just part of the gamble when you work outside. Local builders know us well enough to just drop by when they need a load for a job. We just keep to ourselves and focus on the kiln and the stacks. It’s a simple way to make a living, and it keeps us busy from sunrise until it gets dark.
