If you look for us near the Reliance Mall in Kattuveerampalayam, we are just down the way on Bannari Road. It is a bit of a contrast, having that big shiny mall right there while we are over here at number 32 dealing with gravel and bricks. We’ve got a fairly large yard but it always feels small once the new loads arrive. The dust from the road and the yard gets into everything, even the drawers in the small office. We spend most of our time out in the open, checking the quality of the stone or talking to the truck drivers who bring the supplies in from the quarries. It's a lot of physical work, especially when the weather isn't helping. We have a couple of dogs that hang around the gate and keep us company during the quiet hours. The neighbors are mostly other small businesses, so we all know each other and help out if a truck gets stuck or someone needs a tool. We don’t have any fancy titles here; we all just do whatever needs doing, whether it’s shoveling or writing out a receipt. The phone rings a lot with people asking about prices, and we just tell them what we have on the ground at that moment. It’s straightforward work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday without much fuss.
