We’ve been here at Om Nivas in the Ahire Colony area for a good while now. Being out on Degaon Road in the M.I.D.C. part of Satara means we deal with a lot of dust and heavy trucks every single day. It’s not a fancy setup, just a practical office and a place to manage the cement loads that come through. Most mornings start with the sound of engines and the guys checking the inventory lists. We spend a lot of time on the phone or out near the loading area making sure things are moving where they need to go. The weather gets pretty hot out here, so the fan in the corner is always running. We mostly just focus on getting the bags moved and keeping the records straight in our ledgers. It’s a lot of physical work and paperwork combined. People from around the industrial area drop by often, sometimes just to ask about prices or when the next shipment is arriving. We keep a few chairs for visitors, though they usually don’t stay long since everyone is busy. The walls could use a new coat of paint, and the desk is cluttered with old receipts and pens that barely work. That’s just how it is when you’re running a yard. We know the neighbors and the truck drivers by name. It’s a steady routine of loading and unloading that keeps us occupied from morning until we lock up the gate at night.
