Vedh Woman Empowerment Federation

Our federation is based in Satara, specifically in the Godoli area. We have shop number one in Gulmohar Plaza, right on S.NO.23/1/lB. It’s a good spot because it’s on the ground floor and easy for women to just walk in when they are out doing their shopping or errands. The plaza is a local landmark, so nobody has trouble finding us. Inside, the shop is painted a simple off-white, and we have a few long tables where we sit and talk. It’s usually quite loud because when a group of women gets together, there is a lot to discuss. We don’t have a formal reception desk. Whoever is closest to the door just says hello. We deal with all sorts of things related to empowerment, but we don't use those big words much when we are actually talking to people. We just talk about jobs, money, and family stuff. Satara is a beautiful place, and being in Godoli means we see the hills in the distance every time we step outside. The office itself is quite plain. We have a computer that works most of the time and a lot of registers where we keep track of everyone. Sometimes we bring snacks from home to share during our meetings. It’s a very informal way to run things, but it works for us. We’ve been in this shop for a while now and the locals know us well. It’s just a practical space for practical work. We usually close up early on Saturdays to get home.
