Swashal Green Association

Swashal Green Association is located at HNO-18, G.NO-82/P in Laxmi-Vihar. We are on Deolai Road in Satara. It’s a local neighborhood and we’ve been here for a while. We call ourselves a green association because we care about the environment around us. We aren't some big NGO with millions in funding. We are just a group of neighbors and local people who want to see more trees and less trash in our part of Satara. Most of what we do is small-scale stuff. We might organize a cleanup or talk to people about how to handle their waste better. It is a lot of door-to-door talking and meeting people on the street. Sometimes it feels like we aren't making much progress, but we keep at it anyway. Our "office" is just a regular house in Laxmi-Vihar where we keep our tools and some papers. We don't have a professional staff; it's mostly volunteers and people who live nearby. We spend our weekends doing most of the work because that's when everyone is free. It’s not a polished operation. We make mistakes and sometimes our plans don't work out like we thought they would. But we live here, and we want the area to look good for our kids. We just do what we can with the little bit of time and money we have. It’s a community thing, plain and simple.
