Shimja Foundation

You can find Shimja Foundation over at Nakshtra City, specifically in Flat J/201 on Palashi Road. We are out in the Khandala and Shirwal area, which is a bit of a drive from the main cities. It’s much quieter here, which we like. The office is basically a converted flat, so it feels very homey. We have a kitchen where we make lunch and a living area where we meet with people. It doesn’t feel like a cold business office at all. We focus on helping the local community here in Shirwal. There are a lot of families around who sometimes need a hand with different things. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall. We just look at what needs doing each morning and try to get it done. Sometimes it’s organizing a small workshop or just helping someone fill out government forms. We’ve been here for a while now and the people in Nakshtra City know us well. We don’t spend money on fancy websites or marketing. We’d rather just use what we have for the actual work. The view of the hills from Palashi Road is nice in the mornings. It’s a slow pace of life, but we stay busy with the paperwork and the visits. We’re just a small group of people trying to be helpful in our own way. Sometimes we have to drive out to the further villages to check on things.
