Nipun Gramin Vikas Nidhi Limited is over at Bhau Gogawale’s place in Karhar. It is a small spot in the Hateghar area of Jawali, Satara. Being out in the rural part of the district means we see a lot of the same faces every week. Our office isn't much to look at from the outside, just a regular building among others. Inside, we have our desks set up and plenty of shelf space for the documents we need to store. We focus on the local folks around Jawali. People come in with their passbooks and we spend time updating them by hand. It’s a lot of manual work but it feels more personal that way. There is a big tree outside that gives some nice shade to the entrance. We often find ourselves chatting with people about the weather or the crops before we even get to the money stuff. It is just the way things are done here. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. Word of mouth is how most people find us. Bhau is usually around to oversee things and make sure the office stays tidy. We keep a few extra chairs for when the elders come by and want to sit for a while. It’s a plain, honest office where we do our best to keep things moving. We don't use big words or complicated processes, just simple talk and paperwork.
