We work out of Flat No G234A/1A in Prasana Arcade, which is over in the Durga Peth area. It is an older building, but it has a lot of character and it suits us just fine. As architects and interior designers, our workspace is usually covered in blueprints, material samples, and several half-empty coffee mugs. It is definitely not a pristine studio like the ones you see in shiny magazines. There are rolls of paper tucked into every corner and a fair amount of dust brought in from the various site visits we do. We spend a lot of our time arguing over where a wall should be placed or which tile looks better under different types of light. Durga Peth is a very busy area, so there is always some noise and hustle going on outside our window. I actually like being in a flat rather than a cold, modern office building; it feels more like the homes we are trying to design for our clients. We do not have a big receptionist or a formal waiting room here. You just come in and we sit around the big wooden table to talk about your project. It gets a bit chaotic when we have multiple deadlines, and the printers are usually humming all day long. We just try to make spaces that people actually want to live in. It is a lot of measuring and re-measuring, and sometimes things do not fit the first time. It is honest work.
