Guru Nanak Seva Mission & Environment Foundation

We’re over at 2221 Gobind Nagarnaya Gaon. Most people just call us the Seva Mission. We started this because there was a lot of trash in the neighborhood and the air didn’t feel right. It is just a bunch of us who live nearby trying to fix things. We plant some saplings when the weather isn’t too hot. Sometimes we help out with food or just cleaning up the street corner. It gets really dusty around here. We aren’t doing anything big or fancy, just trying to keep the place looking a bit better. Sometimes the neighbors join in, and sometimes it is just two of us out there. It is hard work but someone has to do it. We don't have an office with a receptionist. If you come by the address, you might see us out back or working on the plants. It takes a long time for things to grow. We have seen a few birds come back lately which is nice to see. It is mostly about the environment around our own homes. We try to use less plastic and show others how to do it. It is not a fast process. Most days we are just busy with regular life and squeeze this in. It is good to have a purpose that isn’t just about work. We hope the trees we plant stay alive through the summer. That is the main goal. Just taking it day by day here in the village. Sometimes we run out of water and have to carry buckets from down the road. It’s just us doing what we can.
