Suraj Handicrafts

You can find us at H-54-60 in the RIICO Industrial Area. It’s a big space because we need the room for all the raw materials and the finished items. Suraj Handicrafts has been around for a good bit now. The air is usually thick with the smell of whatever we are working on that day, whether it's wood or metal. We have a bunch of guys who are really good with their hands, and they’ve been with us since the start. We aren't a high-tech facility with robots. We use old tools and basic methods because they work for what we do. It’s a lot of manual labor. My office is just a small room with a window looking out onto the floor so I can see what’s going on during the shift. We don't have fancy brochures to hand out. If you come by, we’ll just show you what we are making right then. Sometimes the RIICO area gets a bit chaotic with all the trucks and loaders, but we’re used to it. We keep our heads down and focus on the orders we have. It’s not a soft job. It’s hard on the back and the hands, but there’s a sense of pride when a batch is finally finished and packed up for transport. We don't say we're the best or anything like that. We just do the work that’s expected of us. It’s a simple life here in the zone. We just try to get by and keep the orders moving along.
