Baba Rice Mills

We are out in Chhitauna village near the Post Office. The mill is close to the Govt. High School so we hear the kids during their break times. Working with rice means there is always a bit of dust in the air and the machines make quite a lot of noise. It is just a part of life here in Gopalganj. We get the grain from the local farmers around the tehsil and process it right here. It’s heavy work and my hands are usually rough from handling the sacks. We don't have any fancy robots or high-tech systems. It's just the old way of doing things that still works for everyone. The building is older but it stays cool inside during the heat. People come by on their tractors and we chat for a bit while they unload. We don't spend money on big ads or marketing people. The rice speaks for itself when people cook it at home. We just focus on keeping the mill running and making sure the bags are filled right. Sometimes the power goes out and everything stops for a while but we just wait it out. That's just how it is in the village. We’ve been here for years and the school kids eventually grow up and bring their own crops to us. It’s a slow life but it’s a good one. We just do our job and go home when the sun sets.
