Our company, Shiva Chill Rolls Pvt. Ltd., is out on Raikot Road. It’s a bit away from the main city center, which is nice because we have a little more space. The road out here gets a lot of heavy trucks passing through, so there’s always a bit of vibration in the air. We are a small group of people working in a plain brick building. There aren't any signboards with lights or anything like that. You just look for the gates on Raikot Road and that’s us. Inside, it’s mostly just the machines and the space where we handle the rolls. We don't have a lobby with magazines or a receptionist. If you come by, you’ll probably find us on the shop floor or in the small back office. The work is repetitive but it needs to be done right, so we just focus on that. We don't spend money on fancy furniture or painting the walls every year. The money goes back into the machines and keeping things running. Some days the weather makes the shop really hot, but we keep the doors open and just get on with it. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s a steady one. We’ve been here long enough that the local tea stall knows our order by heart. We aren't trying to change the world; we are just making sure our rolls are done properly.
