Satguru Rice Mills

Satguru Rice Mills sits right on Dyalgarh Road over in Dhadrian. It’s part of the Longowal area. If you’re looking for us, we are quite close to Deshmesh Public High School. You can often hear the kids playing during their break times while we are working on the rice. The mill itself is a basic structure with a lot of open space for drying. Dyalgarh Road stays busy with local traffic, so we see a lot of people passing by every day. The building has been there for years and it shows a bit of age, with some patches on the walls and a heavy iron gate that squeaks when you open it. We spend most of our time out in the yard or checking the machines. It’s not a corporate office by any means. We have a small room where we keep the records and have tea when there’s a quiet moment. The weather really dictates how our day goes. If it’s cloudy, we worry about the grain outside. Longowal is a small place, so everyone kind of knows everyone else’s business around here. We just try to keep things running smooth without too much fuss. The school nearby is a good landmark for people who aren’t from around Dhadrian. It’s a simple life at the mill. We work, we talk to the farmers, and we wait for the next load to arrive. This road gets narrow sometimes but it gets us where we need to be.
