You’ll find us at Shop Number 10 in the New Subzi Mandi over in Sangrur. Working in a vegetable market means our days start way before the sun comes up. S Harbhjan Singh & Co has been a fixture here, and we’ve seen it all. The mandi is a loud, chaotic place with trucks backing in and people shouting prices. Our shop is where we handle the arrivals and make sure the produce gets moving. It’s not a clean or quiet job, but it’s what we know. There’s always mud or vegetable scraps on the floor, and the air is full of the smell of fresh greens and earth. We don't have a lot of time for formalities because things move too fast here. If you come by in the afternoon, it’s a bit quieter, and that’s when we catch up on our ledgers. We’re just local people working with farmers and buyers every day. It’s been this way for years, and we don't see it changing much. We aren't trying to be some high-tech firm; we just use our hands and our heads to get the job done. Sometimes the prices are good, sometimes they aren't, but that’s the life of a mandi trader. We just take the good days with the bad and keep moving. There's no use complaining about the early hours when you have work to do and people waiting.
