Harnam Singh Sons is located right on the Main Road in Kup. It’s a small town and everyone kind of knows where everyone else is. Our shop has been around for generations, and the sign outside is a bit faded from the sun. We have a lot of old wooden shelves that hold everything we sell. It’s a bit of a maze inside if you aren't used to it. My father used to sit in the same chair I do now, watching the carts and cars go by on the road. We deal with all sorts of people, from farmers needing supplies to families looking for things for their homes. Kup is a quiet place except for the main road traffic. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just talk to people when they come in. There is an old ceiling fan that squeaks every time it turns, but it’s part of the atmosphere here. We keep a pot of tea going most of the day. If you stay long enough, you’ll probably hear a lot of local gossip. We aren't in any hurry to change how we do things. It’s worked for us for a long time. We just provide what the town needs and keep the shop open from dawn until dusk. It’s a steady life and we are content with how things are. Family businesses like ours are just part of the landscape in Kup.
