Sikh Comics

We are based at Gyankhand Media and mostly we spend our time working on the Sikh Comics. It isn't a huge operation with a lot of staff. Most days it is just a couple of us sitting at the desks surrounded by boxes of paper and half-finished sketches. We started this because we noticed there weren't many books that told these specific stories in a way that kids actually wanted to read. So, we decided to put them into comic form. It takes a lot of work to get the drawings right. We often sit here debating over the shade of a turban or how a background should look. The office is a bit messy, to be honest. There are stacks of old issues in the corner and sometimes the printer gets jammed and we spend an hour trying to fix it ourselves instead of calling someone. We don't have any big corporate goals or anything fancy like that. We just want to make sure these historical stories don't get forgotten. Sometimes people call us up asking for a specific story about one of the Gurus and we have to go digging through the warehouse area to find it. It's a simple life here. We drink a lot of tea and try to stay on top of the orders. Most of us have been around here for a while and we just like seeing the finished product after weeks of sketching and writing. If you ever come by Gyankhand Media, don't expect a shiny lobby. It's just a place where we work hard.
