Dasmesh Mechanical Works

If you head down the Main Road in Amargarh, you will find our workshop. Dasmesh Mechanical Works has been in this spot for a long time. The smell of oil and old metal is the first thing you notice when you walk in. We have tools hanging on the walls, and half of them are probably older than I am. It’s a noisy place because there is always some machine running or someone hammering on a piece of iron. The floor is stained with grease that won't ever come out, no matter how much we scrub. We spend our days fixing whatever breaks down. Sometimes it’s a small part, and other times we have to take a whole engine apart. Amargarh is a place where people rely on their machinery, so there is usually someone waiting at the door when we open up. We don't have a lobby or anything like that. You just walk right into the work area. The sun beats down on the corrugated metal roof during the summer, making it pretty hot inside. We keep a fan going, but it mostly just moves the warm air around. We take our lunch breaks together in the back, sitting on crates. It’s honest work and it keeps our hands dirty from morning until night. We don't bother with much else besides getting the jobs finished. That is basically the whole story of this place on the road.
