Brick Kiln

Down in Village Dhuri, you will find our Brick Kiln. It is out in the district area, away from the main city noise. We spend most of our time out here working with the clay and the fire. It is hard work, especially in the summer months when the heat gets to be a bit much. The village is quiet, which suits us just fine for the kind of work we do. We have been part of the landscape here for quite some time now. Most of the people working here are from around the village. We just make bricks. That is the long and short of it. The kiln is usually going, and we have stacks of finished bricks waiting to be picked up by trucks. Some days it is quite dusty and the work is slow, but we keep at it. People from the surrounding district know where to find us when they need materials for a barn or a new home. We don’t really do much else besides the brickwork. It’s what we’ve always done. The ground around here is good for it. Sometimes we have to deal with the rain slowing things down, but that is just part of living in the village and working outdoors. We don't have a fancy storefront. It’s just the kiln and the stacks of bricks. If you drive into Dhuri, you can’t really miss the smoke from the chimneys when we are firing a new batch. We stay out here most days until the sun goes down and then start again.
