Salim Clinic

Salim Clinic is out on Chabra Road in Kawai Salpura. It’s part of the Atru Tehsil in the Baran district. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here if you’re coming from the main city, but for the people in Atru, we’re right where they need us. The clinic is small and sits on a dusty road where trucks go by heading toward the main highway. We don’t have much in the way of decoration. Just a few benches and a desk for the doctor. The walls are painted a simple off-white color. It gets quite dusty because of the road, so we’re always wiping down the surfaces. Life here is slow compared to the big cities. We know our patients by their names and who their father is. It’s that kind of place. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two and we just sit outside in the shade until it comes back on. We handle the basic stuff—fevers, cuts, things like that. If it’s something big, we tell them to head into the district town. People here work hard in the fields or at the local shops, so they only come in when they really have to. We keep a stock of the usual medicines on the shelf behind the counter. It’s a quiet life at Salim Clinic, just doing what we can for the folks on Chabra Road.
