Our spot is in Girajawade, which is in the Shirala taluka of Sangli. It’s a bit of a drive to get here, but it’s where we need to be for the work we’re doing. The pin code is 415408. This Shapoorji Pallonji & Co Ltd office is pretty basic. We’ve got a couple of rooms for the staff and a place to keep our equipment. It’s a very rural setting compared to the city offices, so things feel a bit more relaxed but the work is still hard. We deal with a lot of local weather issues, like when the rain makes the sites muddy. Our days start early because we like to get things done before it gets too hot. There is no corporate vibe here at all. We are mostly talking about tractors, cement, and how many people showed up for the shift. The walls are a bit bare, maybe just a calendar and some site photos. We use simple tools and try to keep our overhead low. Most of us have been working together for a long time, so we don't need to say much to understand what needs to be done. It’s an honest day’s work in a quiet part of Maharashtra. If you come by, you might find us sitting outside under the shade during a break, just catching our breath. We don't have fancy titles, we just do what needs doing to keep the project moving along.
