Islampur Turmeric Association

Our group, the Islampur Turmeric Association, is located right in Kisan Nagar near the Momin Mala DP. Being on Kamiri Road means we are right in the thick of things here in Islampur. We deal with farmers and traders who bring in their turmeric loads every week. The air around our building usually smells like earth and spice, which is something you get used to pretty quick. It is a busy spot in Walwa, and we spend a lot of time just talking to people about the crops. We are not a big corporation or anything. We are just a bunch of locals who know the turmeric trade inside out. The office at 8/214 is where we keep our records and meet up. Sometimes the printer jams and we have to wait for someone to fix it, but the work goes on. People stop by to ask about prices or just to have a chat about the weather and how it is affecting the harvest in Sangli. We keep the doors open and the benches out front for whoever needs a rest. It is a straightforward setup. No one wears suits here. We wear what is comfortable for a long day of work. Maharashtra has a lot of turmeric, and we just help manage how it moves through our town. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk most days. It is not fancy, but it gets the job done for the people here.
