We spend a lot of time out at sites, so the office is often empty except for one or two people handling the phones. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front of the building quite hard. We have a small cooler to keep the water cold. Most of our conversations are about labor costs, bricks, and timelines. We know the local shopkeepers and often grab a snack from the stalls in the bazaar. It’s a small town, so reputation matters more than fancy ads. We just focus on the work at hand. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we end up doing things the old-fashioned way with paper and pens. It gets noisy with the bank traffic nearby, but we like being in the heart of the market. It feels like we are right where the action is in Kavathe Mahankal.
