Uttam Prestress Processes Private Limited is located out on the Miraj Pandharpur Road at Gat No. 212. It is a rural spot in Alkud M, so there is plenty of room for all the heavy concrete work we do. If you come by, you will see big molds and long stretches of steel wire. Prestressing isn't a clean job; there is a lot of dust, cement, and water involved in the process. We have a crew of workers who are experts at handling the tensioning equipment. It is heavy labor, and the guys are usually covered in grit by the end of the day. The sun beats down on the yard where we keep the finished beams and blocks. We rely a lot on the trucks that come up and down the Pandharpur Road to move our stuff to construction sites. It is a long way from the big cities, which suits us just fine because we need the space. The office is just a simple room with some files and a computer to keep track of the loads going out. We don't spend much time on decorations. It is all about the strength of the concrete and making sure the wires are pulled tight enough. We take our tea in the shade of the main shed when we can.
