United School is located right in Lingampally Village, which is a quiet corner of Medak. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows whose kid belongs to which house. Our school building is pretty basic, just some sturdy rooms and a yard where the children spend their breaks. We don’t have a lot of the high-tech stuff you see in the big cities, but we have enough benches and blackboards for everyone. The road out front gets a bit muddy when it rains, so the kids often come in with dirty shoes, but nobody really minds. Life moves a bit slower here. We open the gates early and the teachers usually walk in from nearby. You might see a cow or two grazing near the fence line while classes are on. We don’t put on any airs about being something we aren't. It’s just a place for the village children to get their schooling without having to travel too far away. The rooms are a bit small and sometimes it gets a little crowded when we have a full house, but we make it work. Most of the parents work in the fields or have small shops nearby, so they stop by to chat with us if they have a concern. It’s a community thing more than anything else. We’ve been a part of Lingampally for years and we just keep doing what we do every single day.
