Lakshmi Sai Store

We are located at 5-3-342 on Chennur Vari Street. It is a fairly narrow street, which means parking a car can be a real struggle for people, so most of our customers are locals who just walk over from their houses. The shop is set on the ground floor of an old residential building. We have a small wooden counter at the front where I spend the majority of my day. The shelves reach all the way up to the ceiling, so we always have to keep a small ladder nearby to reach the items at the very top. It gets a bit dusty up there because it is hard to clean every day. We sell mostly daily household items and things people need for their cooking. It is just me and my brother who run the place. We take turns going to have our lunch while the other one stays back to handle the customers. The floor is made of old stone tiles that have become quite worn down and smooth over the years. It is not a fancy store at all, and since we don't have any air conditioning, we leave the front door wide open to catch whatever breeze comes down the street. We know nearly everyone who lives on this block. They might come in just for a small piece of ginger or a single packet of tea. It is a quiet way to live, really. We just try to keep things simple.
