Manot & Co.

Manot & Co. is based out in the village of Samuktala, near Santalpur in Alipurduar district. It’s a very green area, and being out here means we’re away from the big city rush. Our business is pretty tied to the local surroundings. We have a small yard and a building where we keep our equipment and supplies. The roads out here can be a bit rough, especially when the monsoon hits and everything turns to mud. We’ve had to get used to the slower pace of life in this part of Alipurduar. My day usually starts with checking the perimeter and seeing what needs to be hauled out for the day's tasks. It’s mostly just us and a few local workers who have been with us for a long time. We don't use any fancy systems to run things; a lot of it is just written down in ledgers or kept in our heads. Sometimes we have to travel a bit to get parts or meet with people in the bigger towns, but we always come back here. It’s a quiet existence for the most part, focusing on the work at hand and making sure the business stays afloat. We aren't trying to be anything big, just a reliable spot in the village where work gets done. It's just a regular life for us out here.
