At Vikas Work Shop, we spend most of our hours over in Bhalu Palli. Our shop is right by the Aeinthapali Police Station, so it’s pretty easy to find if you know the area. Being so close to the station means there’s always some activity nearby, but we mostly just focus on what’s on our own workbench. It’s a mechanical kind of place, so there is usually a lot of oil, metal scraps, and the sound of tools being used. We handle all sorts of repair jobs and manual work that people bring in. It’s the kind of job where your hands are rarely clean, and the floor is always a bit dusty no matter how much you sweep it. We have been in Bhalu Palli for quite some time now, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change a bit, but the work we do stays mostly the same. Every morning starts with opening up the big doors and checking what needs to be finished from the day before. We don’t have a fancy office or a place for people to sit and wait; it’s just a workshop through and through. Sometimes we have to wait on parts to arrive, which can be frustrating, but that is just part of the trade. If you walk past the Aeinthapali Police Station, you will probably hear us hammering or grinding away at something. It’s just a plain, hardworking shop where we fix things and try to get people back on their way.
