Ms Karan Construction

We operate out of Q/No 2R 9 in the Gandhinagar New Colony. This is over in Hirakud, near Sambalpur in Orissa. Being in a colony house means the office feels very much like a home. Ms Karan Construction is what we call ourselves. We do a lot of local building work around the 768016 area. Hirakud is a specific kind of place, especially with the dam nearby. Life is a bit slower here than in the big cities. Our office is basically a room in the quarters where we keep the maps and the construction tools. It’s not a polished business center. You might see some laundry drying nearby or hear kids playing in the colony while we’re talking about cement and bricks. That’s just how it is here. We like the Gandhinagar area because it’s quiet and everyone knows each other. If someone needs a wall fixed or a small project done, they just walk over to the quarter. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. Word travels by mouth in Sambalpur. We just try to do the work right and keep our tools in good shape. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We spend most of our time out at the sites anyway, so the colony office is just for the paperwork at the end of the day. It’s homey and it works for us.
