Essel Mining, Aditya Birla Group

We've been operating out here in Katapali for a while now, right near Rengali in the Sambalpur district. Being part of the Aditya Birla Group means there is always a lot going on at the site, but on the ground, it's just a lot of us coming in every day to get the work done. The office is over in the K.Jhankarpali area, and if you know the Katarbaga police station, we aren't too far from there. It is a busy place with trucks and machinery moving around most of the time. Working in mining in this part of Odisha is pretty straightforward. You deal with the heat and the dust, and you just keep moving forward with the tasks for the day. We don't really do anything fancy here, it’s mostly just the regular routines of the mining business. Most of the folks working here are from around the local area or have moved into the staff quarters nearby. It feels like a small community once you get used to the rhythm of the place. We keep our paperwork and the main operations running out of this Katapali location. There isn't much to see if you're just passing through, but it is a big part of what happens around these parts. Sometimes the weather makes things a bit slow, especially when the rains hit Sambalpur hard, but mostly we just stick to the schedule. It is what it is—a busy industrial spot in a quiet corner of the district.
