Payal Plastic Factory

This factory sits right in Ward No-2 here in Tajpur. We are pretty close to Yougiya Math School, so we hear the kids playing during their breaks. Payal Plastic Factory isn't a huge place, just a workspace where we get things done. Mostly, we deal with plastic molding and making various small items for local use. The floor is usually covered in little bits of colorful plastic scrap. It can get quite hot in the summer because the machines put out a lot of heat. We don’t have fancy air conditioning or anything like that. We just open the big doors and let the breeze in. My uncle started this place a long time ago. We spend our mornings checking the raw materials and making sure the injectors are running right. Sometimes a machine breaks down and the whole day goes into fixing it. It’s a lot of manual work and our clothes usually have a bit of plastic smell on them by the end of the shift. We aren't trying to be the biggest company, we just want to keep the production moving so we can pay the bills. The neighborhood is quiet except for the hum of our motors. We use a lot of recycled stuff when we can. It’s a messy business but it’s our business. If you walk past the school and see a building with stacks of crates, that’s us. We just keep working every day.
