Mahila Kalyan Sangathan

Mahila Kalyan Sangathan is run by us from a place in the Railway Colony in Samastipur. We are at Quarter Number 426/B on Road Number 9. It’s basically a residential area, so it’s not like a big commercial office block. Awadhesh Kumar is usually the one you’ll find handling things. The space is pretty tight because we have a lot of stuff stored away for our projects. We have some old wooden tables and a few plastic chairs for visitors. Since we are in the Railway Colony, we can often hear the trains or the whistles in the distance. It’s a busy neighborhood with lots of families around. We focus on work that helps women in the area. It’s mostly grassroots stuff, so we spend a lot of time talking and meeting with people. We don't have a website with flashy photos or anything. Most of our work is done through face-to-face conversations. The walls have some posters and calendars pinned up. We keep a kettle going for when people drop by to discuss things. It’s a simple, honest way to run an organization. We’ve been at this Samastipur address for a long time. We know the 848101 area well and the people who live here. It’s not a fancy job, but it’s what we do every day from morning until evening. We just keep plugging away at it.
