Our shop is out on Patiala Road. It is a long stretch of road with a lot of industrial workshops like ours. We have been here for many years, and the building shows its age. The main area is where we keep the lathes and the heavy machinery for our engineering work. There is usually a layer of oil on the floor, and the smell of grease is pretty strong. We don't have a proper office or a place for guests to sit. If you come by, you’ll probably find us wearing grease-stained clothes while we fix a part or weld something together. The road outside is always loud because of the heavy trucks moving goods back and forth. When it rains, the water drips in a few places, but we’ve learned to move the machines out of the way. We start work early in the morning before it gets too hot. There is a small tea stall just a short walk away where we spend our breaks talking about the jobs we have to finish. It is not a place for someone who wants a clean, quiet environment. We are focused on the metal and the machines. We just do the work as it comes in and try to stay busy. It’s a simple life on Patiala Road, but it suits the kind of industrial stuff we do every day.
