You can find us on the first floor at 164 Cherry Road. We are right in the Hastampatti area, directly opposite the Government Arts School. It’s a busy part of Salem. The traffic on Cherry Road is almost constant, so there is always a bit of background noise coming through the windows. Being on the first floor is okay, though the stairs can be a bit dusty sometimes. We have a few desks and some plastic chairs for whoever drops by. The view from the window is mostly just the school gates and the street vendors selling snacks. We go through a lot of paper here. Everything is filed away in metal cabinets that clack when you close them. It is not the quietest office, but we have gotten used to the sound of buses and horns. The light in the room is a bit dim in the corners, so we have a few extra tube lights fixed to the ceiling. We usually start the day by cleaning the desks and checking the mail. There isn’t a receptionist or anything like that. If the door is open, you just walk in. The air feels a bit thick when the humidity picks up in Salem. We just keep the fan on high and keep going. It’s a practical space for our daily tasks. No big decorations on the walls, just a calendar and maybe a clock that runs a few minutes fast. We try to keep the desk clutter manageable throughout the week.
