You can find Vetrivel Textiles over at No. 82, Mettu Street in Edappady. We are in the Salem district, which has a long history with cloth and weaving. Our place isn't hard to find if you know the street. It’s a basic building, nothing too modern, but it houses everything we need to keep the business going. We spend our days managing the looms and checking on the fabric quality. It’s a lot of standing and moving around. The noise of the machinery is something you just get used to after a week or two. We have a small group of workers who are like family. We’ve been through the ups and downs of the textile market together. We don't use big words or try to sound like a multinational corporation. We are just a local mill doing our bit. Sometimes we have to stay late to fix a broken part or finish a batch that's behind schedule. That’s just part of the job. The office is just a corner with a desk and some old filing cabinets. We keep things simple because that’s what works best for us. People in Edappady know us as a place that just gets on with it. We don't make big promises, we just show up and do the work. It’s been that way for years and we don't see any reason to change it.
