Velavan Super Market

We have been at No:2 on Nagavalli Main Road for a good while now. It is right near the Santhai in Tharamanagalam, so things get pretty busy on market days. Most mornings start early for us, usually around six or seven, just getting the shutters up and making sure the milk packets are sorted. The shelves get a bit messy sometimes when people are rushing through, but we try to keep up as best as we can. It is just a regular shop where people from around here come for their rice, pulses, and whatever else they need for the kitchen. Sometimes the floor needs a lot of sweeping because of the dust from the main road. We know most of the faces that walk in, especially the ones who have lived in Tharamanagalam for years. It isn’t anything fancy inside. We have the usual stuff stacked up like soaps, oils, and snacks for the kids. The lights in the back aren't the brightest, but they do the job for now. My brother and I take turns at the counter. When the Santhai is happening, the noise from outside is quite loud, but you get used to it after a week. We don't have a huge staff, just a few local boys who help with carrying heavy bags or restacking the biscuit packets. It's a lot of standing around and talking to neighbors while weighing out things. We just keep the doors open and see who comes by.
