We are located over at the New Staff Quarters in Mettur Dam. To be more exact, it is B-48 in the Malco Colony. Being in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu, the weather is usually quite warm, so we have the fans going all day long. This place is part of a larger residential area for workers, so there is always someone walking by or kids playing nearby. It feels more like a home than a workplace sometimes. We have our desks set up in the main room. The walls are a bit plain, and we have a few calendars hanging up to keep track of the dates. Working in a colony means you see the same people every day at the small shop or near the gate. It creates a sense of being part of a big family, even when we are just focusing on our tasks. The Mettur Dam is a major landmark near us, so that’s how we usually explain our location to anyone coming from out of town. We don't have a big fancy lobby. Visitors usually just knock on the door and come right in. We try to keep the space tidy, but there are always stacks of papers that seem to grow overnight. It is just the way we operate here. It’s practical and straightforward, without any of that corporate polish you see in the city offices.
