We are tucked away at No 5 on the 2nd Cross in Maravaneri. It is quite close to the Arts College, so there are always students walking by or sitting at the juice shops nearby. Salem gets really hot in the summer, so we keep the curtains drawn most of the day to keep the office cool. The office itself is nothing special to look at. It has some wooden chairs and a big wooden desk that has been here since we started. We handle things as they come. The 2nd Cross is a bit narrow, so parking can be a bit of a headache if you have a big car. We usually just park our scooters right out front. The building has that old Salem charm, slightly weathered but sturdy. You can hear the college bell ring every hour. It reminds us of how the day is moving along. We have a small cupboard for files that never seems to stay shut properly. It’s just how it is. Sometimes we talk about the local news while waiting for the printer to finish. There’s a small tea shop around the corner where we usually go for a break. People know us in Maravaneri. We don’t use any big fancy words or have a polished front desk. It’s just a place where we sit and work through the files one by one. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit on high speed but it works fine for us. We just keep our heads down and do our tasks.
