About Tamilnadu Wood Industry & Carvings – Furniture in Salem
Over at 167, Anniindra Nagar, we run the Tamilnadu Wood Industry & Carvings. As the name says, we do a lot of work with wood, especially the more detailed carving side of things. It’s a bit of a messy business, to be honest. Wood chips and dust are everywhere, and the smell of fresh timber is something you never really get out of your clothes. We’ve been in Anniindra Nagar for quite some time now. Most of our work is done by hand, using chisels and hammers, so it takes a bit of patience. We don’t hurry through things because wood doesn't really like being rushed. If you visit us, you won't find a fancy lobby. Instead, you'll see stacks of planks and a few guys focused on their workbenches. We make things like door frames, small statues, and decorative panels for homes. It’s a traditional way of working that hasn’t changed much since we started. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to wait a few days for parts, but that’s just how it goes. We don’t do big TV ads or anything like that. People usually hear about us from their neighbors or see our sign when they’re walking through the street. It’s a steady life, working with our hands and making sure the wood looks right before it leaves the shop. We just focus on the task in front of us and try to get the carvings done properly.
