It’s got that typical local office smell of paper and ink. We have a few cupboards that are bulging with old records because we don't throw anything away. The floor is tiled but has some cracks here and there from years of use. We don’t really mind it. Most days, we just sit here and process the documents while the traffic hums in the background. It gets quite hot in Salem, so we usually have a water cooler sitting in the corner for anyone who needs a drink. The people who come by are usually our neighbors or folks from the nearby streets who have known about us for a while. We don't do anything fancy. There are no big meetings or polished presentations. We just sit down, look at the books, and talk about what needs to be done. It’s a very practical way of doing things, and it suits the people around here just fine. We’ve been at this spot for a long time and it feels like home now.
