Raasi Supermarket

Down at 3/91, Royakottai Road in Alapatti, you’ll find Raasi Supermarket. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a bit, and it’s become a routine part of our lives. The shop isn't massive, but we try to fit in as much as we can on the shelves so people don't have to travel too far for their basics. Alapatti is the kind of place where you know most of the customers who walk through the door. Usually, it's someone picking up sugar or some pulses for dinner. We don't have any of those self-checkout machines or anything high-tech; it's just us at the counter ringing things up. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but that's just how it is around here. We spend a lot of time checking the dates on packets and making sure nothing is sitting around for too long. It can get a bit cramped when we get a big delivery, with boxes stacked in the aisles for an hour or two. We just move them as fast as we can. It’s just a normal neighborhood store. No bells or whistles, just a place to buy your groceries. We like the rhythm of it, seeing the same people every day and keeping the shelves full. It’s not a fancy job, but it’s what we do. The building stays cool enough in the shade, which is nice during the hotter months.
