R S R Touriest & Travels is located right here in Mettur Dam. We have been part of this community for quite some time now. Salem is a big area, but Mettur has its own feel, especially with the dam nearby. We mostly cater to people who are visiting the park or the water. It is not a fancy setup. We have a small space where we keep our keys and the logbook. Most days, I am just sitting there waiting for the phone to ring or for someone to walk in and ask about a vehicle. We have a couple of drivers who have been with us for years. They know all the shortcuts and the best places to stop for a meal on long trips. We do not go in for big advertisements or anything like that. Word travels fast in a place like this. If we do a decent job, people tell their friends. That is how we have stayed in business. Sometimes the cars need a lot of work because of the rough roads, but we do our best to keep them running. It is a lot of long hours, especially during the festival seasons when everyone wants to travel at the same time. We do not have a big corporate office with air conditioning. It is just a basic room with a few chairs. We are just local folks doing our thing.
