You can find me over on T.B. Road, right near where the Old A.T.C. Stand used to be in Sankari. My name is Sampath, and I took over this line of work following in my family’s footsteps here in the Salem district. We operate out of a small space that’s been around for quite some time. The area is always moving, with buses and people passing by all day. My main job is acting as a purchase assistant for local trades. It involves a lot of checking and re-checking lists. I spend a lot of time on the phone talking to vendors. Sometimes it’s hard to get a clear answer on when things will arrive. I try to keep things organized, but with so many small bits and pieces to track, the office gets cluttered. It’s just the way it is. People come by the old stand area and drop off their requests. I don't have a website or anything like that. Just a ledger and a phone. Sankari is a tight community, so everyone knows everyone else. If a delivery is late, I usually hear about it pretty quickly. It’s practical work. No big speeches or corporate talk here. I just help people get what they need for their shops or projects. It’s what I know how to do, and I’ve been doing it here on T.B. Road for years now. It keeps me active and connected to the town.
