Nellai Store

Our shop is right on Mettur Main Road, number 255. Being near the State Bank helps because people stop in after they finish their bank work. Nellai Store is a small place but we pack a lot into it. We have mostly groceries and small household items. Kesarimangalam is a busy area, especially during the day. We get a lot of people just passing through. I’ve been running this place with my brother for about six years. We know the regulars by name and what they usually want. It’s not a fancy setup. We have wooden shelves that we built ourselves. Sometimes the ceiling leaks a little when it rains really hard, so we have to move the sugar bags. It's just part of it. We don't have any big advertisements outside. Just the name above the door. We keep the prices fair because we live here too. Dealing with the distributors is the hardest part, always checking the expiry dates and making sure the boxes aren't crushed. We stay open until about nine at night. If you need something simple like tea leaves or salt, we are the place. We don't try to be more than what we are. It’s just a honest local shop on a busy road. The traffic can be loud, but you get used to it. We keep a fan going near the counter to stay cool. It works well enough for us.
