Manipal Hospital

Our hospital is situated in Salem, Tamil Nadu. It’s a fairly large place and we stay quite busy throughout the week. If you’re from around here, you probably know where we are. We’ve had our doors open for quite some time now, and we’ve seen all kinds of people come through. Working in a hospital in Salem means you meet a lot of different families. Some are just here for a routine thing, while others have more going on. We don’t really try to be anything we’re not. We’re just a group of doctors, nurses, and office staff trying to keep things running. The weather here can get pretty hot, so we’re thankful for the air conditioning inside the building. It’s not always the quietest place, especially during visiting hours when things pick up. We do our best to stay organized with the charts and the appointments. It’s a lot of paperwork and a lot of walking back and forth in the hallways. We don’t have a fancy way of saying it—we just work here. People need help, and we try to provide it as best as we can without making a big fuss. Every day is a little bit different, but the goal is always the same: just do the work and help the people who walk in. The shifts can be long, and the cafeteria food is about what you'd expect, but we get the job done. Sometimes the printers jam right when we're in a hurry, but we just fix them and keep going about our day.
